Star Wars Day

If you're a Star Wars fan, go grab your lightsaber! May 4 is Star Wars Day, an annual "holiday" that celebrates one of the most popular flicks of all time, Star Wars. The original 1977 blockbuster film, directed and written by George Lucas, starred Mark Hammil, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

Fans will be out en "force" celebrating the out-of-this world, epic space saga by attending various Star Wars-themed events, movie marathons, parties, sales, promotions and giveaways all across the globe.

Years ago, Margaret Thatcher became Britain's first female Prime Minister. Legend has it that an ad congratulating Thatcher on her victorious run read, "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations." Star Wars fans tweaked one of the most popular phrases in the Star Wars film, "May the Force Be With You" and embraced the Thatcher ad. Star Wars Day falls on the fourth of May and the play-on-words phrase, "May the Fourth Be With You," stuck!
