Groundhog Day: Did He or Didn't He?
Today is Groundhog Day, an annual holiday that celebrates Punxsutawney Phil, a very special, one-of-a-kind and totally legendary rodent. And the question remains - did he or didn't he?
Known for his super-natural abilities to predict the weather, Punxsutawney Phil emerges from the confines of his comfy home each year on Feb. 2 after a long winter’s nap as thousands of humans look on.
Ever since his first official journey to Gobbler’s Knob on this day back in 1887, Punxsutawney Phil has been predicting the weather. Despite the fact the furry critter holds no official degree and is not a certified meteorologist, Phil has been predicting the weather with 100% accuracy! (Although some nay-saying humans believe his accuracy rate is more like 39%.) Weighing about 20 pounds and nearly 130 years old, Phil drinks a magical elixir each year to help him live an even longer life (even though granola bars are his food of choice.)
Early this morning, the famous groundhog left his comfy confines and made his grand appearance after being summoned from his burrow and greeted by his handlers. So, what's it going to be, Phil?
“Hear ye, hear ye..." Punxsutawney Phil officially..........
