Join the Great American Smokeout and Kick Butt!

If you’ve been kickin’ around the idea of giving up tobacco, here’s your chance. It’s the Great American Smokeout (GASO). The annual event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is held on the third Thursday in November.

In honor of the event, local and nationwide activities, rallies, parades and educational events take place around the nation. Besides encouraging tobacco-users to permanently kick the habit, GASO also helps raise awareness about the many dangers of smoking.

Kick the Habit

For those who are not quite ready to kick the habit for good, why not just “walk away for a day?” The United States Department of Defense takes part in the annual event by encouraging its military personnel and family members to quit smoking for 24 hours.
