Letter Writing Day: Put pen to paper and write, right?
With the big day just a few weeks away, now is the time to practice those penmanship skills! After all, that letter to the "big guy" has to be just "write," right? Dec. 7 is Letter Writing Day, an annual "holiday" that encourages folks to put pen to paper and write!
A Lost Art?
When was the last time you sat down and wrote an actual letter, added a personal note in a greeting card or wrote an entry in a diary or journal? (And no - text messages and emails don't "count!") Unless you are in school, writing has almost become a lost art! And speaking of lost arts - what about cursive handwriting - remember that?
In many states across America, cursive will no longer be taught in elementary schools due in large part to the digital-age. But according to Yahoo News, California, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Utah are fighting to keep cursive in the curriculum. What do you think? Should cursive handwriting still be taught in schools today or is it outdated and no longer needed?
In honor of Letter Writing Day, why not add a personal touch and hand-write those holiday Christmas cards this year?
