Hug an Atheist Day
The first Friday in June is Hug an Atheist Day (HAAD). William Bermudez is credited for launching the annual event several years ago.
Participating in the occasion is a breeze – all you need to do is find
"an theist, agnostic, ignostic, nontheist, antitheist, antireligionist, apatheist, secular humanist, skeptic, misotheist, dystheist, structuralist, freethinker, naturalistic pantheist, absurdist, deist, therevada buddhist, zen buddhist, nihiilst, marxist, pastafarian, spagnostic, gropaga, existentialist, or anyone else who doubts the existence of a god,"
and give him or her a great big hug!
Although America has come a long way over the years, discrimination still exists. Whether you believe or you don’t, all people should be treated with respect and given the same rights regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual persuasion. But even today, incidents of intolerance and ignorance still occur.
In honor of Hug an Atheist Day, hand out a few hugs today because everyone needs a little hug now and then regardless of their personal beliefs.
