July 11 is National Cheer Up the Lonely Day, also referred to as Cheer Up the Lonely Day. The annual event, created by Francis Pesek, was launched in an effort to promote kindness to folks who were lonely or living in nursing homes.
Many people are lonely and suffer from feelings of isolation from time-to-time. Whether someone is feeling all alone due to personal, health, age or financial reasons, today is the perfect opportunity to put a smile on the face of a friend, family member, co-worker or even a stranger in need. A small, simple gesture can make such a great big difference in someone’s life.
How to Participate in Cheer Up the Lonely Day
Bake a batch of homemade cookies or brownies and deliver them to someone who lives alone or is having a difficult time.
Pick some fresh-cut flowers and deliver them to someone in need in a pretty vase.
Why not offer to take someone out for a scenic drive?
Volunteer your time at a local hospital or nursing home.
Many elderly in nursing homes feel all alone and spend their days and nights without any visitors. Why not stop by your local nursing home or retirement canter and make a new friend?
July 11 is also World Population Day, National Mojito Day and 7-Eleven Day (FREE Slurpee Day!)
