The first Friday in October is Lee National Denim Day. This annual “holiday” helps shine the spotlight on breast cancer by going casual.
Years ago, several Lee Jeans employees discovered breast cancer had touched their lives in some way, and they wanted to do something to make a difference. And they did!
Since its inception in 1996, the event has raised millions of dollars. $1.4 million was raised in the very first year alone. Touted as one of the “largest, single-day fundraisers nationwide for breast cancer,” Lee National Denim Day has currently raised over $86 million dollars in the fight against breast cancer.
Participation is simple. Lee Jeans encourages companies to allow employees to wear jeans to work on National Denim Day in exchange for a $5 donation to fight breast cancer.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, everyone is encouraged to participate at some point during the month of October. Register a team, join a registered team or just donate to the cause. Slip on those comfy pair of jeans for a good cause. Going casual is one small step in the fight against breast cancer.
