Support National High-5 Day: Hand out high-fives to help fight cancer

Get ready to get your clap and slap on – it’s National High-5 Day(NH5D)! NH5D is an annual event observed on the third Thursday in April.

It seemed like only yesterday when people were high-fiving everyone, everywhere. It seemed everywhere we looked; high-fives were part of the American culture. But like most fads, “slapping skin” began to wane and high-fives were no longer “in” style. But several students from the University of Virginia wanted to recognize the once popular hand gesture and created National High Five Day holiday back in April 2002.

And folks around the country have been high-fivin’ ever since.

It is estimated that 2 out of 5 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. But besides havin’ fun high-fiving friends, family, co-workers and/or complete strangers, your high-fives could also help save lives.
