Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, always observed on the fourth Thursday in April, was selected to occur during the middle of the school week so children can share with others and apply what they have learned the following school day.
he educational event, originally launched in 1993 by the Ms. Foundation for Women, began as Take Our Daughters to Work Day but later expanded to include boys in 2003. It is estimated that more than 37 million children and adults will take part in the yearly event at over 3.5 million worksites nationwide!
Whether you work in a hectic office, fast-paced factory or super-quiet library, today is the perfect opportunity to show your children, grandchildren or special child in your life what your job entails. The national program, recommended for children 8 to 18 years of age, provides helpful insight into the work force and gives youngsters the opportunity to explore various options and avenues for their future. Participants will also see first-hand, that with a little hard work, determination and perseverance, anyone can reach the American dream despite their gender, race or economic circumstances.
